You’ve been asked to back a lease—here’s exactly what that means, what you’ll be responsible for, and how to get started.

Before you can begin your Rental Application, you’ll need to E-sign the Applicant Packet, which outlines the terms, disclosures, and requirements for applying with Hometown Management.
It only takes a moment, and your application cannot move forward without it. You can sign it online using the button below, or download and upload it with your application if you prefer.

After the resident lists you as their co-signer, you’ll receive a unique application link by email. You must use that link to complete your co-signer application—do not submit a separate rental application on your own.
If you don’t see the email, check your spam folder and confirm with the resident which email address they entered for you.

Once you submit your co-signer application through your unique link, TransUnion SmartMove will automatically email you to complete your background and credit screening.
This step verifies your identity, credit, and rental history. You must complete the SmartMove email promptly—your co-signed application cannot move forward until this is finished.

Next, you’ll need to complete your income verification through PayScore. This step confirms that you meet the financial requirements to co-sign the lease.
Click the button below to begin. You’ll securely connect to the bank account where your income is deposited, and PayScore will verify your income history through a safe, read-only connection.
If PayScore can’t connect to your bank, simply reach out to their live chat or email support@payscore.com so they can manually review your statements.

Once you’ve finished your part—application, screenings, and income verification—the applicant still needs to complete their remaining requirements.
Your file cannot move to the owner until every adult applicant and co-signer has fully completed every required step. When the applicant finishes their portion, the entire group file will be ready for owner review.

Once you and all applicants have completed every required step — applications, screenings, and income verification — the full file is sent to the property owner for review.
Owners may take up to 7 business days to review all information and make a final decision.
You guarantee the full lease financially. If the resident fails to pay rent, fees, damages, or breaks the lease, you agree to cover those costs.
